Welcome to the DW website.I'd like to welcome you to our Autumn 08 Season and I'm pleased to announce we have 8 national and international companies taking centre stage in 5 different spaces including 4 theatres and an outdoor city centre green!
Opening the DW Season in Sheffield City Centre, come rain or shine, will be 3 spectacular outdoor performances of Transport Exceptionnels by French Company Beau Geste - a playful love duet for one man and his thirteen tonne differ accompanied by the music of Maria Callas and it's family friendly and FREE!
Hot on the heels of Beau Geste is rising star of the British dance scene Hofesh Shechter with Uprising and In your rooms described by The Observer as probably the most important new dance work to be created in Britain since the millennium...
Master choreographer Stephen Petronio (USA) returns to Danceworks with 3 mouth-watering works, 2 of which, Bud Suite and Bloom he has collaborated with song writing genius, Rufus Wainwright, with the latter, Bloom, featuring a live Sheffield youth choir.
Barnsley Diversity Festival in its 6th year boasts performances by Liz Lea (UK/AUS), award-winning maverick Sean Tuan John with Brut45 - presenting an excerpt from his new work How I Faded and Disintegrated and London's Place prize winners in 2006 Srishti with Play Ball.
