Arts Council England Yorkshire
Danceworks is grateful to the Arts Council England, Yorkshire for their £69,981
RFO award (2011/12) - towards staffing and core costs, as well as a £60,000 Grants
for the
Arts Award (June 2010 - March 2011) towards the costs of supporting artists, venues
and developing audiences, which includes the Generate project;
whilst continuing to produce and present dance theatre work for young people 14+
and also build on regional, national and international partnerships to distribute
and co-produce work.
Sheffield City Council has been a regular supporter of Danceworks since 1998, contributing to specific projects on an annual basis. For 2010/11 Sheffield City Council awarded Danceworks funds to continue their Generate audience development programme and in 2009/10 awarded Danceworks funds towards the costs of presenting Toilet Tango in St Paul's Place in the hear of Sheffield. In 2008/09 the Council supported the costs of presenting Transports Exceptionnels by French company, Beau Geste in a public space, a non-traditional theatre environment, Devonshire Green, in the heart of Sheffield City Centre to launch Generate 2008 as well as celebrate the launch of the Cultural Olympiad. In 2007/08 the Council supported the first phase of a two-year pilot project, Generate, to engage young children and their families with contemporary dance; and also phase six of our ongoing hip-hop programme, with a international hip-hop autumn school for young people, entitled Breakin' Through.
Foyle Foundation
Danceworks are delighted to have been awarded £20,000 from the Foyle Foundation
towards the of commission and production of Rodrigo Pardo's ROOF and Paper Mountain, a new dance theatre show for 7 to 11 year olds, their friends and families
for middle scale theatres.
Esmee Fairbairn Foundation
Danceworks were delighted to be awarded £30,000 from Esmee Fairbairn Foundation
towards the cost of the audience development, The Generate Debate and production research/development and dissemination elements of the Generate project.
