DW Producing and Presenting New Work:

Short Back and Sides
Generate Dance (30) 100This exciting new company, made up of TC Howard, Matthew Bugg and Jamie Vartan, is working with Danceworks to develop a new, mid-scale family-friendly work - Paper Mountain.

This new work is part of DW's Generate* producing programme.  In 2010 Short Back and Sides intend to show a work in progress of Paper Mountain to invited children, adults, theatre programmers, educationalists and marketers as part of a conference day to debate family-friendly dance-led work being made in the UK and beyond to be held at either Sheffield Theatres or Nottingham Playhouse.  The company intend to make, premiere and tour Paper Mountain in 2011/12.

This DW led project is currently supported by Sadler's Wells, London, Nottingham Playhouse, New College Nottingham, Sheffield Children's Festival and Sheffield Theatres with other partners and funding pending.

*NOTE Generate is a programme to develop family audiences for high quality, dance-led work through:

Producing and presenting national and international dance works that are family friendly.

Introducing children [7 - 11] to dance as an art form through creative sessions led by inspirational artists combined with trips to see the family friendly performances.

Wendy Houstoun
WendyHoustoun2 100Danceworks and Wendy continue to work together in 2010 as we hope to present her new piece, Keep Dancing.  We are also in discussions with Wendy to explore future new work with Jordi Cortes [Spain].

 

 

 

Arthur Pita
We are exploring the possibilities of supporting Arthur's research and development process for a very special new work that could see the City Hall Ballroom take centre stage.

Richard Alston Dance CompanyPhoto Credit: Hugo GlendinningIn the last season brochure we stated we were in discussion with these two visually contrasting British choreographers to produce a special evening of work.  This has now been put back until 2011 due to Charlotte Vincent's decision to take a sabbitical in 2010.



Music in the Round [MiTR]
We are in early talks with Sheffield based MiTR to commission a new work by an internationally renowned choreographer set to a commissioned score played live by Ensemble 360.

New Ventures!
B Geste Sheff hanging100In 2011 DW have ambitions to animate public spaces in Sheffield, working with leading national and international artists alongside established and new venues/organisations.  This is subject to further funding and partnerships to be explored in 2010.
