Richard Alston Dance Company Residency
In October 2008 Danceworks ran a successful residency with Richard Alston Dance Company for students of Barnsley College, New College Nottingham and Northern School of Contemporary Dance.
Dancers from Richard Alston Dance Company split up into two separate groups (one
led by and one by ) and spent three days working with students at Barnsley College
and New College Nottingham on technique classes, teaching rep and creating work
based on the rep.
At the same time, Artistic Director and choreographer, Richard Alston, worked with postgraduate choreography students and third year degree students at Northern School of Contemporary Dance for three days. Richard spent time with the postgraduate students focusing on how he works with music and with the third year students focusing on creating choreography.
At the end of the three days students from Barnsley College and New College Nottingham came together for a sharing day, to showcase the work they had created during the residency to a select invited audience. Richard Alston also provided the students with invaluable feedback.
Comments from all the students and teachers involved were unamimously positive and a selection of them can be dowloaded below.
A selection of video clips and photos from the sharing day for Barnsley College and New College Nottingham will be also available here shortly.
