For the first time in twelve years the all male dance company The Featherstonehaughs are on the road again with a highly anticipated brand new show EDITS and a re-working of the 1998 classic, The Featherstonehaughs Draw on the Sketchbooks of Egon Schiele. Both feature costumes by three time Oscar Winner Sandy Powell (inc Shakespeare In Love) and an original score played live.

EDITS
Edits280Edits is a brand new work for the six Featherstonehaughs.  Using a drastic and compelling new way of creating movement material, Lea Anderson takes to extremes her translation of the conventions of film, photography and painting into dance.

Edits draws on the peculiar elasticity of filmic time, the dramatic rhythm of film editing, the ability to heighten effect through extreme close up.  While revealing the hidden rhythm achieved in film with the use of zooms, pans and tilts, Edits creates a totally original live world of its own.

"Unconventionality is a hallmark of Anderson's choreography.....It has far more to do with individuality than traditional dance technique.' Donald Hutera/The Times

THE FEATHERSTONEHAUGHS DRAW ON THE SKETCH BOOKS OF EGON SCHIELE
Originally created in 1998, The Featherstonehaughs draw on the sketch book of Egon Schiele brings to life the tormented and stunning artistic vision of Austrian expressionist visual artist Egon Schiele.  Loaded with energy and with a new six strong all male, Featherstonehaugh company, the show has been dynamically re-worked  for 2010.

Egon280Reviews from the 1998 production:

'This is simply the best new British dance work in years....musically striking and visually haunting..' Barbara Newman /Country Life
'as unnerving as some of the Schiele's portraits themselves' live art magazine

The Featherstonehaughs (and all female co-company The Cholmondeleys) have been working under the highly original directorship of Lea Anderson, one of the most important figures in British contemporary dance, for over 25 years.  They have performed her groundbreaking and distinctive choreography all over the world and past works include Dancing On Your Grave, Flesh and Blood, Double Take and Featherstonehaughs Go Las Vegas.  Challenging and exciting, visually stunning and often featuring unique music, the next Lea Anderson work is always an eagerly anticipated event.
