Paper Mountain
Paper Mountain is a new dance theatre show for 7 to 11 year olds, their friends and families for middle scale theatres
Created by Short Back and Sides - a new Sheffield based Company with Co-Artistic Directors TC Howard and Matthew Bugg.
The Show
"An old man taps away on his typewriter. He tears another sheet of paper from the machine, screws it up and throws it
on the growing pile behind him. From this mountain of discarded words something stirs. A little Paper Man emerges - his body written with the old man's untold story"
Paper Mountain is an ensemble piece for 6 dancers, inspired by the fairytale tradition, and featuring an original score of sound effects, sampling and live music. The old man revisits his past as a young boy and must face his fears in order to move towards a future full of love.
A world of forgotten memories is created with an imaginative set full of traps, gauzes and elastic walls. Exquisite choreography weaves its way through shadow and light until the climax of the piece when an epic battle is fought between despair and hope.
