Producing, presenting, promoting UK & International Dance
Established in 1993 and incorporated as Danceworks UK in 2000 Danceworks is South
Yorkshire's leading dance promotion agency and a model for marketing and audience
development led agencies for dance across the UK. It devises annually a high
quality national and international dance programme, which includes commissioning
at its heart. Developing and retaining audiences for the venues of South Yorkshire
is its primary activity.
Danceworks also works strategically within the UK to support and promote national
and international dance to small, middle and large-scale venues by extending the
South Yorkshire model as a basis of development for audiences and best practice.
Activity Overview - 2005
15 regional, national and international high quality Dance Companies toured into
South Yorkshire between January and December 2005
Through a series of audience development led initiatives Danceworks has worked
with 32 professional artists from a range of the 15 companies to deliver workshops,
residencies, talks, film showings and master classes alongside ticket and transport deals to 700 over young people many in deprived South Yorkshire areas. In total
over 27,590 people have attended the performances by the 15 companies.
