Saturday 13 February 2010 9.20am - 1.20pm University of Sheffield Drama Studio Rehearsal Room 1 (Glossop Road, Sheffield S10 2TD) Cost £20 (to cover teacher and venue fee) Contemporary technique class followed by a creative workshop, including repertory and improvisation. Led by Mona McCarthy. Mona McCarthy will lead a release based technique class, focusing on the journey between tension and release to find momentum, fluidity and ease in movement. This will be followed by a creative session where structured improvisation is used to explore, challenge and expand on ones own movement vocabulary, this will be tailored to the needs of the group. Mona McCarthy is a dance artist based in Newcastle upon Tyne. She has been working professionally as a teacher and performer since 2001. During that time she has worked with choreographers and theatre practitioners such as Adam Benjamin (UK), Molly Sturges – Little Globe (New Mexico), Liv Lorent – Ballet Lorent (UK), Noa Wertheim – Vertigo Dance Company (Israel). Her practice has expanded into the world of aerial performance, working specifically with corde lisse (rope). She is co-organiser of Phoenix Aerial club and co-director of theybreakinpieces and The FATHoM Project (CIC).
