Transports ExceptionnelsPresented in partnership with Dance Umbrella Supported by Komat'Su In 2007 Dance Umbrella presented Beau Geste’s simply stunning Transports Exceptionnels at Jubilee Gardens in London – it was watched by over 6,000 people and hailed as ...the romance of the season — The Guardian. Back by popular demand for 2008 Beau Geste will now embark on a UK tour and Danceworks is pleased to announce their first stop will be Sheffield.
Transports Exceptionnels, by French choreographer Dominique Boivin, is a tender love duet for dancer and mechanical digger. Accompanied by the dramatic voice of Maria Callas, this meeting between iron and flesh is a witty interpretation of the classic pas de deux. Playful yet rugged, Transports Exceptionnels is an unexpected moment of grace between fragile man and indestructible machine. Man and machine met in a graceful spectacle of tender give-and-take. An original idea executed with flair — The Times. These spectacular outdoor performances of Transports Exceptionnels will open the Danceworks season in Sheffield in a new and non-traditional theatre space in partnership with Sheffield City Council and launch the next phase of our cultural project Generate of which Beau Geste’s family friendly shows are central. This event will also support the Cultural Olympiad launch weekend.
